Research Interests

I find great joy in trying to understand why and explain how spiral galaxies evolve through internal, secular processes. In this endeavor, I typically use analytical methods and modeling to connect fundamental physics and physical processes to trends in simulated and observed data. The following is a selected list of my interests:

  • Dynamics of disks and clusters

  • Galaxy evolution

  • Disk galaxy structure

  • Dynamical resonances

  • Chaotic orbits

  • Radial migration

  • Nature of spiral structure

  • Spiral formation and disruption

  • Chemical evolution
